Portfolio planning

Preparing your portfolio for a software evaluation

Bring the right questions to an evaluation of residential, commercial or mixed-use operations.

Map spaces and responsibilities

Identify your property types, approximate unit count, ownership arrangements and staff roles. Use a synthetic example to explain a typical building hierarchy. Avoid sharing resident information or confidential contracts during an initial software discussion.

Choose representative workflows

Walk through a lease review, a rent receipt and a maintenance request. Include the points where people need approval, where information changes hands and where a report supports a decision. Commercial and mixed-use portfolios may need different charge and accounting policies.

Ask for evidence of availability

Distinguish a concept, a staging workflow and a production capability. Request an explicit scope, integration requirements and acceptance criteria. Evaluate supported financial treatments with the responsible finance and legal advisers before relying on them.
